You Need to Bring with You

Vehicle Renewals

  1. A current State of Maine Insurance Card
  2. The expiring registration
  3. The current mileage

New Registration, Maine Dealer Sale

  1. Proof of Sales Tax paid
  2. The Title Application (blue)
  3. Factory Window Sticker, if a brand-new vehicle, aka Moroney sticker.
  4. Current mileage
  5. A current State of Maine insurance card.

New Registration, Private Sale

  1. A bill of sale.
  2. Previous owner's title (less than 25 years old), signed over to the new owner.
  3. Current mileage.
  4. A current State of Maine insurance card. 

Transfers, Maine Dealer Sale

  1. Registration of the vehicle you are transferring from. You must no longer own that vehicle; it must be traded, sold, or junked in order to transfer.
  2. Proof of Sales Tax Paid.
  3. The Title Application (blue).
  4. Factory Window Sticker, if brand new, aka Moroney Sticker.
  5. Current mileage.
  6. Current State of Maine Insurance Card.

Transfers, Private Sale

  1. Registration of the vehicle you are transferring from. You must no longer own that vehicle; it must be traded, sold, or junked in order to transfer.
  2. A bill of sale.
  3. Previous owner's title (if less than 25 years old) signed over to the new owner.
  4. Current mileage.
  5. A current State of Maine insurance card.

New Maine Residents

  1. You will need your out-of-state registration.
  2. You will need your out-of-state title or loan documents showing what financial institution holds the title.
  3. Current mileage.
  4. A current State of Maine insurance card.

We cannot photocopy registrations. Duplicate registrations are available for $7 if yours is lost.

Please let us know before starting your registration if you are required to file an SR-22.
